Westpac Mobile Application


Overview

This was a project created in tandem with the Westpac Banking Corporation and the University of Sydney to integrate AI into Westpac in some shape or form.

Problem

The Royal Commission into the Banking Industry revealed that the Australian public had a substantial lack of trust in banks. One of the root causes of this issue was that young people lacked financial literacy.
Solution

The solution involved the redesign of the current Westpac Mobile Application involved the integration of Machine Learning  to provide personalised financial insights into the customer’s personal finance. The objective of such, is to enhance their financial literacy to thereby foster and re-establish trust.

Key features include:

1. Being able to see all your bills in one place
2. Personalised insights into the user’s personal finance
3. Improved data visualisation
Results

From the user research and testing that was conducted, it was found that our target audience of young people felt that this UI/UX redesign was a significant improvement from the original. It provided them the ability to have a better understanding of their personal finances.

By extension, they felt that the educational approach humanised Westpac as an organisation, facilitating an increase of trust.
